Case study – Full Business Development Services
A USA based 2nd tier supplier wished to look at the possibility of developing business for its products in Europe. A market study was undertaken on the supplier's behalf that provided the following information:
- Size of the market for its products both in terms of volume and value.
- An in depth analysis of each potential customer, including their market share.
- An in depth analysis of all competitors in the market, including their market share.
- A plan for developing an acceptable market share (either organically or by acquisition) in a given time period.
The plan was accepted and implemented resulting in new contacts with Visteon, TRW and Johnson Controls in Europe.
The client accepted and, together with Automotive Representatives Europe, implemented the plan, which directly resulted in new contacts with Visteon, TRW and Johnson Controls in Europe. Following this success, the client went on to commission us to also provide representative services for its non-automotive products in a number of European countries including the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

Case Study – Business Development and Representation Services

Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd and our Italian sub-agent attend a Sales Meeting at Signature Control Systems in Denver, Colorado, USA |
Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd has been appointed to provide representative and business development services throughout Europe to Signature Control Systems, Inc. of Denver, Colorado, USA. Signature Control Systems has developed the SmartTrac Control System for application with composite plastic moulding machines. Uniquely, SmartTrac is able to monitor the molecular activity of the composite material in the mould and then open the mould at the point of optimum cure to end the cycle and release the part. This provides significant benefits in terms of improved quality of the part and reduced cycle time. In order to achieve the fastest possible introduction of the SmartTrac System in Europe, Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd appointed sub-representative agents in major European markets. Since the appointment orders for the SmartTrac System were received from large composite moulding companies in France, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands.
Update: Signature Control Systems, Inc. was acquired by Ashland Inc., a USA based Fortune 500 company, in December 2008. Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd has been retained by Ashland to market and sell the SmartTrac System.

Case study – Representation Services

Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd attend a Sales Meeting at Bomisa in Milano, Italy |
Bomisa S.p.A. is a long established, Milan based, supplier of automotive badges and emblems with substantial business in Germany, France and Italy. They also supply emblems, badges, buttons and bag clasps etc to the Italian fashion industry and military badges and emblems to many of the world's military and government organisations. They decided to develop business for their products in the UK and appointed Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd to assist them in this objective.
Following initial research into the market for Bomisa's products, significant contracts have been secured with both UK based OEM and first tier suppliers. Customers include Bentley, Jaguar - Land Rover, Key Safety Systems, TRW and Mahle.

Case Study – Representation Service

Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd attend a Sales Meeting at JKL Components Corporation in Pacoima, California, USA |
JKL Components Corporation is a California based company that traditionally supplied miniature lighting products to North American automotive OEM and 1st tier customers. JKL also has substantial business with non-automotive customers. They decided to expand their business in Europe and appointed Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd to help them to achieve this. Since the appointment, significant contracts have been secured with both automotive 1st tier companies such as Continental VDO, Magneti Marelli Electronic Systems and Microcomponents and also with well known non-automotive companies such as Disneyland Paris and IMI. In particular, a contract has been secured with Thales Avionics Aerospace Division of France to supply backlighting technology for their cockpit displays. Further contracts for similar aerospace technologies and applications have also been secured with Brimar Display Solutions in the UK.
Automotive Representatives Europe Limited has also introduced JKL Components Corporation to RS Components Ltd (the world's largest distributor of lighting and electronic components) and JKL's Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps, Inverters and LEDs are now available to order from their website.

Case Study –Consultancy and Marketing Services

Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd help to man Laird Technologies’ stand at CeBIT 2009 in Hanover, Germany |
Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd was awarded a 16 month contract to provide Automotive Industry Consultancy Services to Laird technologies, Inc. Laird Technologies is a $1.5bn USA based division of the UK based Laird Group. They are a relatively new company that has been created through the acquisition of a number of antenna, wireless and high technology electronic components companies over a number of years. Although they had some advanced antenna business in the automotive industry through one of these acquisitions, their name was not was not well known and Automotive Representatives Europe was asked to help create an awareness of the company’s name in the automotive industry, to advise on sales strategies for their other product groups that could have applications in the automotive industry and provide sales strategies and support for their antenna and wireless products in the European vehicle tracking market.
In order to improve Laird Technologies Brand recognition in the market, Automotive Representatives Europe advised on, and managed, an advertising campaign in the automotive press.
With regard to the introduction of Laird Technologies’ high technology electronic components business to the automotive industry, Automotive Representatives Europe introduced Laird Territory Sales Managers to key contacts at major 1st tiers such as TRW, Visteon, Delphi, Magneti Marelli and Borg Warner and supported first contact visits.
In respect of the introduction of Laird’s wireless and technology products to the European vehicle tracking market, Automotive Representatives Europe identified key potential customers, initiated first contact and established relationships with a number of Europe’s largest vehicle tracking companies, car hire companies and truck OEMs.
The consultancy phase of the contract was completed at the end of 2008 and, subsequently, Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd has been appointed to represent Laird Technologies’ commercial antenna and device business in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and the Benelux countries. Automotive Representatives Europe has also been given Key Account Management responsibilities for these product groups at 3 of Europe’s largest Truck OEMs.

Update June 2009: Automotive Representatives Europe Ltd’s contract with Laird Technologies has been extended to include management and development of their antenna business with Jaguar Land Rover. Laird Technologies is a key supplier of am-fm, DAB III, TV, GPS and SDARS antennas and amplifiers to Jaguar Land Rover.
